Benton County Public Records Map

Benton County records are best read as a records map. The Circuit Clerk and Recorder handle land records, court records, and title research. The County Clerk is the voter registrar and handles marriage licenses, DBA certificates, county court papers, and probate under county clerk authority. Property and tax records split between the Assessor, Collector, ARCountyData, and Benton County GIS. State offices handle vital certificates, business entities, licenses, and some custody records.

Open access does not mean every detail is public. Sealed cases, juvenile matters, adoption files, protected voter addresses, some motor vehicle data, and recent vital records are outside the ordinary open-records lane. The right path is custodian first, portal second, copy request third.

Arkansas FOIA in Benton County

The Arkansas Attorney General identifies the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act of 1967, Ark. Code Ann. Sections 25-19-101 through 25-19-109, as the state's open-records and open-meetings law. The AG's office says open records include writings, sounds, or videos that reflect official functions, and records kept by public workers within official duties are presumed open unless an exception applies.

For Benton County offices, FOIA is the fallback when a record is not posted in a portal. Government entities generally have up to three business days to provide a requested record, and fees are limited to actual reproduction costs plus mailing. Ask for the record set, date range, names, parcel, case number, or document type with enough detail to let staff find it.

Benton County Recorder Access

The Benton County Circuit Clerk / Recorder records deeds and mortgages and supports title research. The county public-records page points land records to a fee-based Land Record Web Service. It also says in-person records research is available at 215 E. Central Ave., Room 202, Bentonville, AR 72712, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The Recorder's Office is open through lunch, but recording stops at 4:15 p.m. That time matters when a same-day document must be recorded, not merely searched. The research did not locate an official oldest online deed year, per-image fee, or full public field list for the web service, so older or unclear land questions should go to the office or the archive rather than being treated as missing.

Benton County Court Records

Court docket cases route through Search ARCourts Case Search and Public Court Connect. Benton County's Circuit Clerk public-records page says civil indexes are available through Public Court Connect, and civil images are available from January 1, 2014 to current. It also says civil and criminal indexes are available, with civil and criminal images from that same 2014 date to current.

Search ARCourts is a state portal, but county fallback remains important. Court docket questions go through the Court's Office at 479-271-1015, with civil and domestic at 479-271-1015 and criminal at 479-271-1016. Bentonville District Court is separate for municipal-level cases and links its own record search from the city court page.

Benton County Records Offices

Benton County's records system is split across Bentonville and Rogers counters. The Administration Building at 215 E. Central Ave. holds core clerk functions. Circuit court offices are at 102 NE A St. The Rogers Office at 2111 W. Walnut St. is important for property and tax work, while the Public Services Building and other listed county sites handle different county functions.

Benton County Property Records

Property records form one of the clearest open-record trails in Benton County. ARCountyData identifies the assessor-sponsored real-estate search and collector-sponsored tax records as free public searches. The assessor keeps appraisal and assessment records, tracks land use and improvements, follows property transactions, and keeps property files updated through the year.

Benton County GIS adds maps, districts, parcel layers, shapefile downloads, plat scans, streets, subdivisions, print, and CSV export. A key definition: the situs address is where the parcel sits, while the mailing address is where tax notices go. Those two addresses may differ.

Benton County Vital Records Limits

Vital certificates are not ordinary open records in Arkansas. ADH issues birth, death, marriage, and divorce records or coupons, and the access rule is tied to eligibility, ID, fees, and age of the record. Ark. Code Ann. Section 20-18-305 controls vital-record restrictions. The official ordering system treats births under 100 years as restricted and death, marriage, and divorce records under 50 years as restricted.

ADH channels include online, mail, walk-in, and telephone. Birth certificates cost $12 for the first copy and $10 for each extra copy ordered at the same time. Death records cost $10 first copy and $8 additional. Marriage and divorce records cost $10 per copy. Online orders add a standard processing fee and identity verification fee. Benton County Jail Records

The Benton County Sheriff's Office publishes access points for the inmate roster, accident report request, most wanted, news, mobile app, and sex offender map. The DOC search screen is one of the successful public-records captures for Benton County. It is a state portal, but the county field and facility options make it relevant when a custody question has moved beyond the local jail roster.

The ACIC registry capture comes from the official state registry. Registry data is public for safety and verification, not for harassment, threats, or direct confrontation.

Benton County Archive Fallbacks

Not online does not mean not preserved. The County Clerk archive page says the Bentonville location maintains records on film up to 1990 and optical format from 1990 to the present. The Rogers archive is the primary repository for original records listed on that page. This matters for probate, marriage, county court, and older recorded material that may not appear in a web search.

Historical Benton County series listed through archive-related research include inquest files, probate records, medical practitioner registers, military pension requests, road petitions, wills, and atlas photo indexes. For older people, heirs, and land questions, the archive layer may answer what a current portal cannot.

Arkansas State Records Routes

Some Benton County records are searched through state systems because Arkansas centralizes the index or the certificate. County counters remain the better fallback for Benton County-only records, local copies, and office-specific questions.

Request Benton County Records

Requesting Benton County records works best when the request is narrow and sent to the right custodian. FOIA can require a public office to provide non-exempt records, but it does not turn a closed certificate, sealed case, or protected address into an open file.

5. Pay only the official copy, certification, reproduction, mailing, or portal fee quoted by the custodian.
6. If a FOIA request is denied or delayed, narrow the request or ask the office to identify the exemption or status of the search.

Benton County Records Boundaries

Privacy limits are specific to the record. Recent vital records require eligibility and ID. Secure-voter information may be shielded under Arkansas secure-voter rules tied to Act 980 of 2021, and Arkansas has an Address Confidentiality Program. Motor vehicle data is restricted by federal DPPA rules. Juvenile, sealed, expunged, adoption, and sensitive court materials may be closed or redacted.

When a record seems absent, the reason may be lawful withholding, not a failed search.
